H-1B Cap Count (As of 10/7/2011)

As of October 7, 2011, USCIS has counted 41,000 cap eligible petitions under the Regular H-1B Cap and 19,100 cap eligible petitions under the Master’s Exemption H-1B Cap.

USCIS Continues to Accept FY 2012 H-1B Filings

April 8, 2011:  USCIS announced that it will continues to accept H-1B petitions that are subject to the fiscal year (FY) 2012 cap. USCIS has indicated it has received approximately 5,900 H-1B petitions counting toward the General Cap  cap, and approximately 4,500 petitions toward Master’s Cap.  65,000 new  H-1B visas are available annually under the General Cap.  And additional 20,000 new H-1B visas are available for individuals with advanced degrees.

FY 2011 H-1B Cap Reached

On January 26, 2011, USCIS announced today that it has received a sufficient number of H-1B petitions to reach the statutory cap for FY 2011.  USCIS has notified the public that January  26, 2011, was the final receipt date for new H-1B specialty occupation petitions requesting a FY 2011 start date.  USCIS will apply a computer-generated random selection process (lottery) to all cap-subject petitions that were received on January 26, 2011.
USCIS will continue to accept and process petitions that are otherwise exempt from the cap.  Such petitions include  petitions filed on behalf of current H-1B workers who have been counted previously against the cap as well as petitions filed by certain cap-exempt employers.
The filing window for FY 2012 H-1B petitions (October 1, 2012 start dates) will open up on April 1, 2011.

H-1B Cap Count Update as of 8/27/2010

USCIS has updated its H-1B cap count.  As of 8/27/2010, USCIS has counted 34,900 petitions under the regular cap and 13,000 under the Master’s cap.

H-1B Cap Count – UPDATE

July 14, 2010:  USCIS has updated its H-1B cap count.  As of July 9, 2010, it has received 24,800 petitions under the General Cap and 10, 600 petitions under the Master’s Cap.

Update: H-1B Cap Count as of July 2, 2010

USCIS has reported that as of July 2, 2010, it has counted appx. 24, 200 H-1B petitions under the general cap and 10,400 under the Master’s cap.

 

UPDATE: H-1B Cap Count as of June 29, 2010

USCIS has updated its H-1B cap count.  As of June 25, 2010,USCIS received appx. 23,500 H-1B petitions under the Regular Cap and appx. 10,000 H-1B petitions under the US Master’s Cap.

H-1B Cap Update as of May 6, 2010

May 11, 2010:  USCIS has updated its H-1B cap count.  As of May 6, 2010, USCIS received appx. 18,000 H-1B petitions under the Regular Cap and appx. 7,600 H-1B petitions under the US Master’s Cap.

H-1B Cap Count as of April 22, 2010 = 22,674

On April 26, 2010, USCIS issued an update on its H-1B cap count.  As of April 22nd, USCIS received a total of 22,674 H-1B petitions.  Of these, 16,025 H-1B petitions were filed under the General Cap and 6,739 petitions were filed under the U.S. Master’s Cap.  We will continue to follow the cap count closely and post frequent updates.

FY-2010 H-1B Cap Count Update

04/26/2010:  USCIS has reported that as of April 15, 2010, it received approximately 13,600 H-1B petitions filed under the General Cap and 5,800 H-1B petitions filed under the U.S. Master’s Cap.
