On April 14, 2010, the Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA), issued a letter to President Obama suggesting that U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren would make a strong nominee for the Supreme Court.  Lofgren, a Democrat, represents part of Silicon Valley.  She is a former immigration lawyer, and since being elected to Congress in 1995, Lofgren has supported net neutrality rules, a tax moratorium on Internet taxes, patent reform and increases in H-1B immigrant visas.
